Discussion Prompt #4

I fully agree with this document. Although, this does not only apply to women. Men have the option to disrespect their body to take the easy way out. Everyone makes mistakes, but unfortunately some males do not know how to separate their morals from their desires and it leads them to disrespecting themselves. This document could also apply to underestimated individuals. If you are a minority that is looked down on, this only means you need to work harder to prove yourself. Do not give up on yourself just because someone else does not think you have what it takes. If you don't believe in yourself, who will?

In my opinion, i feel that the meaning behind the phrase,"ethical and intellectual contract" has to do with the difference a student and teacher face when working with the same topic. It is normal for two people to have opposing opinion, therefore they should not be convicted for it. The teacher needs to maintain a professional mindset and grade the student based on his work.

Discussion Prompt #3

Writing is not something that comes easily to me. Therefore, i normally read the assignment topic multiple times before i even begin my writing. Constantly reading it over helps me grasp the topic and lets ideas begin to flow. Although, after each question from the topic is answered i go back and read it another time to assure myself i answered every part to the question. Once the paper assignment is complete, i take one more look at the assignment paper. The last time reading the assignment builds my confidence that i fully completed the writing.

The "Consider the Evidence" concept pretty much tells you what needs to be done in writing a personal experience paper. Take the advise and think back upon that experience. Remind yourself of the experience and how it stuck with you.Going back in time is a good way to complete the steps of research and summary.

The most useful information i took from the text was its tips on writing an analysis. It recommends the questions you should ask yourself and answer in the text. Although i felt the part about "identifying meaningful parts " was a bit unclear.

The rubric handed out and the characteristics are quite similar. They both stress the importance of constructing a clear transitional composition. Also, they both encourage the use of emotion in order to get the point of the argument across.

A Homemade Education

The term homemade is a word that often gets both positive and negative opinions.
In my opinion,  homemade items are more valuable. Homemade items are more valuable. It contains more sentimental value coming from a family member or family friend. For example, if a family member made something especially for you, you are more likely to cherish it than if you would have just picked it up from the store. With that being said, not everyone shares my opinion. In opposition, multiple people value store bought items over homemade items. Such individuals claim that items such as food is better, because it is done by professionals in factories, or the name brand is better. Because of these opinion, some people take homemade items less seriously. Although such claims lead to assumptions that a homemade education can not get you as far as if you were sent for schooling.  I disagree with this statement. My grand-father was born one of eighteen children, so schooling was not an option  for their family. Even though, they weren't sent to school, the children were educated at home and they successfully made something with their lives. Five of the nine brother are currently employed at a mechanic shop owned by an elder brother.

Malcom X is a man that believed you should not to be forced to learn something you disagree with. That is why he believed that freedom can be demonstrated by homemade education. People should be able to learn under their own conditions. Meaning, learning should be about what YOU want. it. In comparison to bell hook's quote, Malcom X has a similar view because they both believe that everyone deserves freedom of education. In contrast, the bell hook's quote mentions something about being in a classroom. Malcom X doesn't believe you must be in a classroom to get an education.

If I happen to be locked in a cell such as Malcom X, I would most likely pursue the subject of English. Pursuing English would allow me to not only learn the United States' dominant language, but also to learn a subject that would allow me to express myself. If I was able to successfully learn the language I would attempt to become a journalist.
